Eyelash extensions are an easy way to enhance your natural eyelashes without using mascara. Jaxon lash experts use LashArt for lash extension and volume. We love working with this product because they are so light weight, they allow us to build lash volume without adding too much weight to the eyelid. The results are very natural which our clients love.
How long will my lashes last?
Lash extensions will typically last the length of your natural lash growth cycle (everyone’s is slightly different) but on average, around 6 weeks. Lashes will fall out with the natural lash so to keep your lashes full we recommend coming in for regular infills.
Do eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?
When applied correctly, eyelash extensions do not damage your natural lash. We will apply an extension that is the appropriate weight and length to ensure the protection of your natural lash.
How often do I need infills?
Lash infills should be done within 2 weeks of having a full set of lashes and we do require you have at least 50% of the current lashes still in – so please never pull the extensions out! We also recommend having regular breaks.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes, a patch test is required at least 24 hours prior to having your eyelash extension. At Jaxon you can book your patch test and consultation online. During the consultation our experts will give honest advice and help you decide if and which lash extensions are right for you.
How soon can I shower?
It is important to avoid getting your new lash extensions wet in the first 48 hours.
Aside from wearing goggles in the shower, just avoid direct contact between your lash extensions and the water from the shower. This wait time will allow the glue to cure and result in a stronger bond with your natural lashes.
How do I wash my lash extensions?
After 48 hours eyelash extensions become relatively waterproof, so you no longer need to avoid water! In fact, you will need to get them wet regularly in order to clean them.
- Firstly, wet your eyes with cool water.
- Lather up a small amount of lash shampoo and gently splash it over your closed eyes without rubbing.
- Rinse it off and dab them gently dry.
- Brush your lashes with a lash wand. It doesn’t matter if they are a little damp or stuck together with water as when you brush your lashes with a lash wand they will re-separate.
Do this 2-3 times per week.
Are there any side effects?
Improper cleansing of your lash extensions and eyelids can cause a few problems. Basically, when not washed properly dead skin cells can build up on your eyelids and your eyes and eyelids will feel itchy, block the hair follicles, and end up looking a bit red and sore. You’ll end up itching your eyes and playing with your extensions; however, with a proper cleansing regimen your eyes will quickly feel much better and your lash extensions last longer.
All eyelash adhesives are attacked by oil!
If you use oil-based cleansers, moisturisers and make-up, or if you have an oily complexion, some of this oil will end up on your eyelash extensions. If you never wash your lashes, the oil will remain and build up there and will slowly break down the lash glue.
Can I wear mascara?
We strongly advise not to, and honestly, you won’t need or want to. Also, don’t use eyelash curlers and try and avoid sleeping face down.
Can I wear eyeliner?
It is also best to avoid eyeliner formulas as they are difficult to remove without rubbing.
However, to remove eyeliner without wetting your extensions, use a cotton bud and an oil-free makeup remover. Gently swipe the cotton bud along the eyeliner line and away from the lash extensions. Repeat until the makeup is removed.
How can I get my own natural lashes longer?
Apply a lash serum daily to help nourish, strengthen and grow your natural lashes whilst you have the extensions on. Please be careful not to purchase a counterfeit product online. Jaxon is a licensed and authorised seller of LiLash and LiBrow serum.
